How Rejoin compares

An honest look at the text-based AAC apps adults actually choose between. Several of them are very good, and one of them is free and already on your phone.

Checked against each vendor's own documentation and US App Store listing on 19 July 2026.

Every app here speaks what you type, and most of them have been doing it well for longer than Rejoin has existed. The column that actually differs is the third one: whether the app hears the question that was just asked and has replies waiting by the time it ends.

When you should choose something else

We would rather you ended up with the right tool than with ours.

What we mean by "hears the other person"

While Rejoin's Speak screen is open it transcribes the conversation on your device and offers three replies written in your own style, so a reply is ready roughly when the question ends. Audio is never stored. Nothing is ever spoken without your tap.

That layer runs on a server, not on the phone, so it needs a connection. We are specific about this because it is the thing most often got wrong about us: everything you need in order to speak works offline, and the AI suggestions do not.

A note on the other apps

Several of the apps above ship AI features. Predictable has AI phrase building, rewriting and an in-app ChatGPT box. Proloquo4Text uses Apple Intelligence Writing Tools. Tobii Dynavox says AI powers TD Talk's phrase prediction. "No" in the third column means only that the app does not listen to your conversation partner, not that it lacks AI.
